We all know how expensive wedding dresses can be, and sometimes people simply cannot afford to get the gown of their dreams. But thanks to one town's "fairy godmother," residents are able to borrow wedding dresses in a unique fashion — all at no cost whatsoever to them! Adele Puccio is the library director of Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. At this library, not only can people borrow books, they can also borrow wedding dresses to help make their big day special.
As to what inspired her to start collecting wedding dresses, Adele recalls doing a bridal show of vintage wedding dresses at a library in 2000. "Over the years I gave them away and then started about two years ago collecting again because there's a Facebook group called Shared Dream Dresses and the lady who runs it wants people to give wedding dresses, you know, for free, to go on to other people."
Adele then started receiving donations of wedding dresses from people, so she started giving them away at the library. Explaining how it works, she says that anyone can come in at anytime for a dress. There's no fee, and people can even come just to try a dress on.

"I've given away probably 10 in the last week and a half," Adele shared, explaining that she's starting to get overloaded with donations. She went on to go through the rack of dresses, giving backstories to some of them including one that was given by a mother whose daughter passed. Adele explained that people can borrow the dresses or, if they "develop an emotional attachment" to one, they are free to keep it.
