Brave Teen Gives Vivid Account Of What It’s Like To Be In A Coma

For two weeks, Claire Wineland went through something no person should ever have to face.

However, if you ask her about her journey, Claire will tell you that she remember beautiful scenery, breathing in fresh, icy air and experiencing the wildlife in Alaska. The thing is, Claire did not journey to Alaska for two weeks. The 18-year-old was in a coma.

Claire suffers from cystic fibrosis, a potentially deadly disease in which the lungs become filled with thick mucus, blocking the airways. After a life-threatening infection five years ago, doctors put Claire in the medically-induced coma and although she was out could for 14 days, it likely saved the teen's life.

In the following incredibly raw video, this brave young woman gives an honest description of her vivid memories of life in the dream state. Claire reveals that she later found out that she had been iced down by nurses, which is one reason she had such vivid hallucinations of Alaska, a place she's never travelled to.

Claire says in the video that being in a coma felt like a very "magnified, intense version" of her own dreams. She says that through the terrifying situation she learned a lot about herself and what she truly cares about.

After watching this emotional video from Claire's page "The Clairity Project," I learned a thing or two myself. This right here is exactly why it's so important to do what makes you happy every day.
