Everyone has their own way of coping with a loved one's death. This story is certainly no exception, though it takes a truly bizarre turn.
Casie and Shawn fell deeply in love and got married in 2009. For two and a half happy years, they had the picture-perfect marriage. But just two months before Casie filmed her My Strange Addiction segment for TLC, Shawn suffered a fatal asthma attack.
At 26 years old, Casie's life unraveled. She became addicted to carrying her late husband's urn. She'd take it shopping, to the movies, out to eat… everywhere. "Anywhere I go, he goes," she said. She slept with the urn in her arms and even bought groceries he liked, despite the fact they went untouched in the refrigerator.
At first, Casie felt comforted by Shawn's urn, and taking it everywhere helped her cope with his death. People would look at her and make jokes, but it didn't stop her from doing it. "Some people laugh, they think I'm playing. But I'm serious. I mean, that's my husband."
But one day, Casie transferred the ashes from a temporary cardboard box into a special memorial urn. In the process, some of the ashes spilled out and onto her hands. "I didn't want to just wipe him away," she said.
What Casie decided to do next will make your jaw drop — not just because it's so incredibly strange and bizarre, but also because how incredibly sad this truly is.
