This Wiener Dog Did One INCREDIBLE Thing To Save His Best Friend…This Is Unbelievable!

"What's that Lassie? Timmy fell down the well again?"

I grew up watching old black and white reruns of Lassie, in which a female collie's owner, a young boy named Timmy, would regularly get into some sort of trouble and the dog would have to save the dayLassie was something of a wonder dog who could save lives in 22 minutes once a week. It always seemed far-fetched that just a dog barking could lead to someone's rescue, but it even happens in real life!

Now, when I think of heroic dogs, I think of German shepherds like Rin Tin Tin, or the Saint Bernards of the Alps. I definitely don't think of dachshunds, or "wiener dogs." I tend to think of wiener dogs as yappy, skittish dogs, but New Mexico dachshund Razor has proven that even these comically shaped pooches can be heroes.

Razor's owner, ironically also named Tim, noticed something was wrong when he saw Razor barking and running around in circles. He initially thought Razor was just being hyperactive, but thanks to Razor's determination and persistence, he ended up saving the life of his best friend, a giant Saint Bernard named Jazzy.

When Tim Chavez left his house that day, he saw that Razor was incessantly barking, but he didn't think too much about it and he carried on with his day. Little did he know, his other dog, Jazzy, was in danger...

The 180-pound pooch was stuck in an irrigation ditch not far from the house, and Razor was desperately trying to get help.

The determined dachshund continued to bark and cause a scene. He eventually ran over to the neighboring house and continued to cause such a ruckus that someone finally paid attention and followed him.

Razor led the passerby to where Jazzy was stuck. Emergency responders were notified and they came to pull Jazzy from the ditch.

The firefighters and policemen pulled Jazzy out on a long spine board — just as they would have done with a human.

It is estimated that Jazzy was down in the ditch for over 18 hours, though he's now doing well and continues to recover.

It's due to Razor's persistence that Jazzy survived. Razor will be given an award by the city of Belen, NM soon.
