Heidi met Ed during college when he moved into a student house where she'd once lived. He saw Heidi's name on a list of prior residents and sent her a message inquiring about the building's washer and dryer.
The simple question turned into a friendly back-and-forth, and pretty soon Heidi and Ed were meeting up in person. They dated, they fell in love and they eventually got married. They were soulmates, but Heidi never really believed in that sort of thing.
Four years into their relationship, the couple had dinner with their mothers in London. While Ed's mom Fiona bonded with Heidi's mom Kay, the two got to talking about their mutual love of taking sailing trips to other countries with their families. Kay remembered a fun-fact about Heidi that she shared with the group: When Heidi was six years old, she had a "holiday boyfriend," coincidentally named Ed. For the duration of a two-week family vacation, the kids were joined at the hip. The fast friends played together, went on adventures and never went without holding each other's hand.
Everyone at the dinner table thought it was a cute coincidence but quickly moved on to different topics.
Two weeks later, Heidi's mom Kay was organizing her attic when she stumbled upon an old photo album from 1997 that had been long forgotten.
Kay wiped the dust off the album and began sorting through the photos. One of them caught her eye… then another… and then another. She couldn't believe what she was looking at.
