It seems like for every amazing technology we develop, another charming piece of the past falls away. Yes, horse-drawn carriages and gas lamps weren't all that efficient — but they were beautiful! Must we always trade aesthetics for practicality?
But luckily for antique-lovers like me, a new movement is sweeping the nation — upcycling! The idea is very simple: Find an old object, freshen it up a bit, then think up a new use for it. You'll be preserving the past while cutting down on waste. It's a win-win!
In this instance, we'll be taking an old barn window — don't you just love how old glass panes seem to have ripples? — and making something beautiful and useful!
In stores, a beautiful piece of furniture like this would cost around $300, but this easy project is only a tiny sliver of that price! And this piece will be unique, handmade, and a treasured remnant of the past.
So go hit some junkyards or thrift shops, and get to upcycling! You'll love it!

Step 3: Measure and cut the bottom of your table's body.

Step 4: Attach the bottom of your table to the body.

Step 5: Buy a set of legs from the hardware store, along with the necessary hardware to attach them.

Step 6: Attach the window to the table body with hinges.

Step 7: Pick a nice handle and screw that to the other side of the window.

Step 8: Paint your table, then fill it with whatever you like!

It's sure to bring tons of rustic charm to any room.

The color possibilities are endless! A Tiffany blue would look gorgeous.

You could also use it as a shadowbox, so go find some beautiful trinkets or memorabilia and get to arranging!
