His voice and dance moves were one of a kind and are still keeping millions of people entertained even now, decades after his death.
When he first appeared on the silver screen with his 1956 appearance on the variety program Stage Show, Elvis caused such a commotion that other TV hosts at the time swore that they would never invite the musician and his scandalous dance moves on their own shows. That promise didn't work out too well for them!
There was just something about Elvis that was undeniable. Even when he wasn't at his best, like when he laughed through this performance in 1969, people couldn't get enough of the King.
This was especially true for Presley's legion of young female fans. One of whom he invited back to his hotel room when he was on the cusp of fame in 1956.
At 2o years old, Barbra Grey called Elvis at his hotel on a dare from her friends. She never expected that one phone call would lead to an iconic photo that would skyrocket into the public eye right along the then-21-year-old Presley.
