Every body is different, and everybody sees his or her body differently. While some of us are extremely comfortable in the skin we're in, others aren't. Understandably, with how ads, TV, and society in general tell us we should look, many people find it hard to be happy with their bodies.
Since she was a teenager, Kay Ska has battled body dysmorphia and an eating disorder. Even during the summer, she wore clothes that covered her entire body.
The young woman has been sharing the small steps and obstacles she overcomes with her Instagram followers, who love her message about body positivity.
This summer, she overcame a major hurdle: for the first time in 10 years, she wore a bikini! In an online post, she proudly displays her body and says how thrilled she is to have come so far.
But she couldn't stop at just one bathing suit. The next week, she bought another one!

Kay Ska uses her online presence to spread the message of body positivity.

When she was a teenager, she suffered from body dysmorphia and an eating disorder. She often wore clothes that covered every part of her body because she was so unhappy with how she looked.

This summer, she overcame a major hurdle and wore her first bikini in 10 years!

She writes, "We are in control of learning to love, accept ourselves and our bodies!"

Trying bikinis on or generally new clothes still gives me a little bit of anxiety.

However, we have to remember that we are soooooooooo much more than our clothing sizes. And appreciate our bodies for what they are, a home for our wonderful souls! A vehicle, that support us, every single day! It works for US!

But it desperately needs our love, nourishment, our attention!

Rather than giving in to the crazy diet culture this summer, appreciate your body for what it is, right now!
