There are over 5 million Americans who suffer from Alzheimer's disease, and it is the sixth leading cause of death in America.
It is one of the many horrific diseases to watch take it's toll on a loved one because it slowly takes away their memory, personality, and ability to live without depending on someone else.
My own grandparents have and are going through it, so I know first hand how emotional it can be to witness.
There is no way to describe the feeling of losing your loved one mentally, while they're still physically there.
And often times, the family members cannot devote their whole lives to being there for whoever is suffering from the disease, in the way that they might need. So, a caregiver is hired.
The hope is always to find a nurse who will love and care for your loved one the same way that you would.
That's their job, and that's what you'd expect.
But, unfortunately, that isn't always the case. And we will often hear horror stories about caregivers that abuse their power, or take advantage of the dependent patient.
This is the exact situation that this What Would You Do episode brings to the public.
They have an actor and actress go out to a nail salon and play up this scenario. While everyone stares and looks at the situation in shock, not everyone says something to the caregiver, who is so horribly rude and disrespectful to her patient.
The few who do stand up and say something have a great heart and a strong message. This is especially the case with the two women who know the situation firsthand and that no one should ever be treated the way this man is being treated.
Please SHARE this great experiment with everyone you know, so that we can help raise awareness about the horrible realities we should all be aware of!
