If your son or daughter introduced you to their significant other for the first time, and they were in a wheelchair, would that bother you?
If yes, why?
Just because a person is in a wheelchair does not mean they are any less capable of loving your child.
And if your child brought them home to meet you, don't you think it's your duty to make them feel comfortable and welcomed?
In this episode of What Would You Do?, they take this exact scenario public.
The actors playing parents take a seat in a local restaurant, then the young woman playing their daughter soon follows, with her handicapped boyfriend close behind.
When the parents see he's in a wheelchair, they have trouble hiding their disapproval. Their eyes get wide and their mouths open, but what this mom says is absolutely ridiculous, if you ask me.
She insults him and publicly humiliates him and her daughter, then leaves the table as she says, "Don't you ever do this to me again."
Could you imagine hearing this coming from a table near you in a restaurant? What would you do if you did?
I think this discrimination is horrible; a wheelchair does not determine whether or not a man or woman is qualified to love someone.
