Teen Is Sick Of School’s Sexist Dress Code So She Uses Senior Yearbook Photo To Get Revenge

Over the past few years, high school dress codes have been in the media a lot. It seems like many of the dress codes haven't exactly kept up with the times, and they don't reflect the modern world we live in today.

Of course, the people most often affected by outfit rules and regulations are teen girls, who are constantly told their clothing is too distracting to the boys or too "inappropriate" for the classroom.

Almost all of these rules are antiquated and sexist, especially because boys aren't held to the same standards as girls.

Recently, teens have started fighting back against these outdated dress codes; both girls and boys have been speaking up to disagree the more ridiculous clothing rules set for them.

One teen, Tori DiPaolo, decided to make a statement about her school's sexist dress code by using her senior yearbook quote to point out the irony of the school's regulations.

Tori's yearbook quote said, "I'm sorry, did my shoulders distract you from reading this quote?"

Tori's school prohibits a number of clothing items, including halter tops, shorts, half-shirts, or any sweaters or blouses that expose stomach or breasts.

Apparently, Tori became known at her school for fighting the dress code.

When it came time to take her senior picture, Tori realized that the robe all the students were supposed to wear was actually not following the dress code rules.

Tori told Huffington Post, "I chose my senior quote because I found it ironic that the classic robes we take pictures in technically violated dress code. Really, I just wanted to get a few laughs."

Tori also explained:

While my school, as well as most others, have dress codes that apply to boys and girls, it’s usually only girls that get dress-code violations.

My school’s dress code prohibits boys from wearing muscle shirts, but they do all the time and don’t get in trouble. Yet when my bra strap accidentally slips, I have to miss class time to go change.

I just think dress codes need to be enforced on both genders if you’re going to choose to have one.

But really, people not being allowed to wear tank tops is ridiculous, no one is distracted by shoulders, and that’s really where I got the inspiration for my quote.

What do you think of Tori's clever way of hitting back at her school's dress code?
