As social media has become more popular, so has the debate of whether women should or shouldn't wear makeup. The correct answer? You should put whatever you want on your face as long as it makes you happy. For many women, it's not that simple. YouTuber MyPaleSkin, or Em, showed us exactly why when she started posting makeup-free selfies on social media three months ago. She's received over 100,000 comments – some of which are unbelievable.
While there are lots of women who have no desire to wear makeup, many others, including Em, couldn't imagine going without it. Her acne makes her feel less confident when she goes bare-faced, so just like this woman who went viral when she showed us the transforming power of makeup, Em uses her talents to hide her blemishes and make herself feel happier.
I don't have the same skin problems as Em does, but I've received similar comments on my face. People have asked me if I got punched in the face thanks to the dark circles under my eyes, and I've even been accused of trying to "trick men" by using a bit of foundation. It's no wonder so many women feel the need to apologize when they go out without makeup!
Despite the heartbreaking comments she received, Em's message at the end of the video is perfect. No matter how you look with or without makeup, what really matters is on the inside.
