Thirteen lucky dogs have police officers to thank for their rescue. During a routine morning patrol, Marion County officers in Key Largo, Florida, heard barking coming from a parking lot.
When they investigated further, they looked through the window of an SUV and saw more than a dozen dogs crammed inside the vehicle.
The police officers immediately called for backup, and animal control came to rescue the canines.
In addition to being in a hot car, they were covered in parasites. And there were feces all over the SUV. The dogs were brought to the Key Largo Animal Shelter to get the love they deserved.
Now, thanks to the amazing workers at the animal shelter, all of the dogs are ready to be adopted and go to the loving forever home they so desperately need.

On October 24, 2017, Marion County police officers heard barking in a parking lot.

When they looked through the windows of the SUV, they saw dogs cramped inside. Animal control was immediately called so the dogs could be rescued.
"The vehicle was full of dogs and food and feces," Animal Control Officer Kevin Hooper told the Miami Herald.

It took some time, but thankfully, all of the dogs were rescued and brought to the Key Largo Animal Shelter.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had this many dogs come in one time,” Marsha Garrettson, manager of the Key Largo Animal Shelter said. "We were fortunate we had the room."

All of the dogs were properly cared for after having matted fur and parasites.

The animal shelter uploaded all of the dogs' photos to Facebook, hoping they'll find forever homes.
"There were 11 smaller dogs, mostly terrier types and they're all adorable little fuzzies," the shelter wrote on Facebook.

There were also two bigger dogs. Doris was one of two larger dogs who was kept inside the SUV.

The dogs are now in better shape and are all up for adoption!

Fergie was the second large dog found in the SUV, who now needs a home.

If you live in the area and would like to adopt one of the dogs, you can contact the Key Largo Animal Shelter.
