Petco Employees Hear Crying In The Bathroom, Find 2 Senior Dogs Abandoned & Locked Inside

On a quiet Saturday night, an anonymous couple walked into a Petco store in Allen Park, Michigan. They had with them two senior dogs, possibly a mother and daughter.

The couple said they needed help finding new leashes since the dogs were wearing only collars. But just as staff members headed to the leash aisle, the couple wound up sneaking off to the bathroom with the dogs and then mysteriously disappeared.

Minutes later, staff heard helpless cries and yelps coming from the public restroom. They couldn't believe it when they unlocked the door and saw the two dogs standing there, alone and abandoned. Their owners were nowhere to be found.

The senior dogs were friendly but confused and frightened. Neither dog was spayed, and the staff saw signs of overbreeding, infection, and heartworm.

The dogs have since been named Marigold and Daffodil. Instead of contacting local rescues and no-kill shelters, their owners left them in the store without warning.

Who knows what type of trauma they'd been through? Thankfully, they are now in safe hands.

Lauren Boesen of P.O.E.T Animal Rescue heard about Marigold and Daffodil and knew she needed to step in. "We don't know the circumstance of what or why they were left," she told Fox 2. "Someone could have thought this was the safest place for them. We don’t really know what happened."
