This amazing video shows a dog and cheetah actually playing together at the Columbus Zoo! Turns out, these two are the best of friends, and it's wonderful (and a bit surreal) to watch them play!
Years ago, Suzi Rapp, vice president of animal programs at the Columbus Zoo, found herself with a baby cheetah who had to be hand-raised. She put him with two Anatolian Shepherd puppies to test her idea of raising the shy cat with a bolder dog, to allow the adopted family to go on the road with Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Director Emeritus Jack Hanna.
"The dogs are great companions for the cheetahs," Suzi says. "They can live their entire lives together in coalitions. Brothers will live with brothers, and sometimes even some single male cheetahs will form what we call coalitions. And what the dogs do is provide them that. A family."
See, it's truly possible: dogs and cats, living in harmony! Awesome!!
