Surgery is never easy for anyone. It's a daunting process, and the thought of spending time in recovery post-operation is just no fun at all.
And sometimes, it can be even less fun for the person in the waiting room than the one on the operating table. That's right. For every person that goes through surgery, someone has to step up and be the caregiver. And this is a fact that's true for people and pets alike.
As any good pet parent knows, you'll eventually end up at the vet. Whether your pup eats some of your wardrobe and ends up with a sock blockage that needs to be removed, or the problem is of the more natural variety, as with Lex, who found out that he needed a number of tumors removed when he took a trip to the vet. And in the aftermath, even if you're still really missing your favorite sock, it's your job to be there for your pup.
But some dogs don't have a family to support them. Prissy is a 4-year-old hound mix who was abandoned shortly after she gave birth. She was rescued and taken to the shelter, where vets there spayed her. Following her surgery, Prissy was having a bit of a rough time, so Kennel Supervisor Chrissy Ireland decided to lie in her cage with her. It's too sweet!
