Dad Spends 2 Years Transforming Boring Backyard Into A 3-Story Playground For His 4 Pit Bulls

Aaron Franks of Pennsylvania just might be one of the most devoted dog parents I've ever seen.

Aaron, his wife, and their kids have four dogs that they count as members of their family: Tessa, Bruno, Cooper, and Mia.

The lucky pit bull quartet is so beloved by their adoring owner that he dedicated two years of his life to making them a custom playground area in his backyard!

But this is no ordinary doghouse. No, Aaron's incredible creation is more accurately described as a "doggy spa," or even a "puppy retreat."

Aaron's project was "a labor of love," according to The Dodo — and you can certainly see this just by looking at how carefully and lovingly it was all put together.

Aaron is an incredibly devoted dog owner. It was a desire to show his dogs just how much he loves them that led him to create his backyard masterpiece.

"I feed them, I water them, and walk them every day. They get their exercise and stuff, but I guess at the end of the day I just felt like it wasn’t enough," the Pennsylvania man said. "I felt like this would be a good way to show my love for them. It makes me feel good that I could do that for them."

Aaron shared the completed playground with the world in a Facebook post on August 15, 2017. The post, with 17 photos of the project, has been shared over 154,000 times.

The final product is a three-story ("dog story") play area that took Aaron two years to complete.

Aaron explained that he converted his back deck and yard into the incredible playhouse.

It has an in-ground, pirate-themed "doggy pool," with some very fitting bone-themed decor surrounding it. There's even a spot for the dogs to chill out and relax poolside.

Aaron set up huge rope toys hanging from a suspended beam for maximum playtime enjoyment.

There's even a spot for the four dogs to do their "business."

That area is marked with a cute little yellow fire hydrant.

Aaron says that this is one of the final projects to complete the home the family has been working on renovating for 10 years.

In his Facebook post, he also gave a shout out to his wife for being so patient and understanding while he worked on his two-year-long project — and for giving him the $500 he needed to finish painting the masterful construction. Teamwork!

"It just came together as I went along. I just went for it," Aaron told The Dodo. "I worked on it a little bit at a time, sometimes just a few boards a month. Every time I got a couple of extra bucks, I’d go out there and add to it."

Aaron also said that his kids suggested he put a flatscreen TV out in the playground, so that the dogs coul watch Animal Planet. The handy dad joked that adding a television might be "too much."

At night, the playhouse even lights up.

Unsurprisingly, the dogs absolutely love their new digs.

"My two older dogs lay around and hang out. They’ve got some new views now where they can see over the fence," Aaron said. "For the two youngest, it’s like a romp room. They go down there jumping and playing around, swinging on the swings. It’s pretty cool."

"Pretty cool" is definitely an understatement.
