If you've ever had a kitten, you know that bringing home the pet can happen in many ways. Maybe you adopted one from a shelter or maybe your neighbor's cat had a litter. However, in some areas outdoor cat populations are so high, it's not uncommon to just find a kitten outside your door.
Having a kitten in the house can be a wonderful and exciting time. Kittens are curious, cuddly, and usually pretty sleepy. They're a bit different from full-grown cats, who've already explored and would rather just eat, then sleep.
Kittens on the other hand live for adventure! They want to explore every room in the house, tear up your toilet paper, and wake you up at 4 a.m. to tell you about an animal they saw through your window.
Imgur user Bunsandtots was heading back to her car after a weekend away when she found a tiny kitten on her driveway. Her excitement about becoming a cat mama was quickly diminished. The kitten she found, aptly named Bane, was very sick. Doctors didn't give her much hope, thinking he might not even make it to the next day. But Bane didn't just make it to the next day, he got better! Each passing day, Bane gets stronger and stronger.
Read on to see Bane's story of triumph.
Warning: One of the images below is a slightly graphic photo of a sick kitten.

When she found Bane, he was only 3 weeks old and weighed less than half a pound. Kittens usually are not to be separated from their mothers until after they're at least 8 weeks old.

After taking Bane to an animal urgent care and getting misinformation, she brought him to a local veterinarian and learned what was wrong. The poor kitty had an upper respiratory infection, an eye infection, worms, fleas, and no body fat. The lack of body fat meant it was unlikely he'd be able to control his own temperature and keep himself warm.

Unwilling to give up on little Bane, she did exactly as the doctor instructed. She bottle-fed him every two hours, gave him his medications, and snuggled him close to her chest to keep him warm.

Like his mama, Bane wasn't ready to quit. Despite doctors saying he could pass at any given time, Bane persisted and soon beat his eye infection.

Now closer to a pound in weight, he's able to regulate his body temperature on his own. His medicine kicked in and he was able to overcome his respiratory infection.

The vet was shocked when she brought Bane back in for his check-up appointment. They hadn't expected him to make it.

Now that Bane's illnesses are behind him, he's a very energetic and playful kitten. Here's to a long life full of kitten treats for Bane!
