When The Lange Foundation rescued a dog named Firefly they had no idea if she was going to make it or not. She came in suffering from burns over 80% of her body, she was petrified of people, and clearly lived a life of neglect and pain.
Miraculously, Firefly survived the ordeal and just three-months later she was healed, although permanently scarred. Even though she was making strides everyday, the thought of Firefly not fully being able to trust another person was on everyone's minds. That's when she met her angel in the form of Jeff.
Jeff and his partner has just lost three of their dogs in a matter of 48-hours. Even though all dogs died of natural causes, nothing could prepare them for the heartbreak that came with each loss. It was almost as if they were all destined to come into each other's lives because as soon as Jeff adopted Firefly, everyone's pain began to heal.
Now renamed Bess, in memory of Jeff's three dogs Buster, Einstein and Stanely, she has become part of an amazing, happy family! What an wonderful sight seeing Bess smile!
