Here at LittleThings, we love interspecies friendships — sometimes the unlikeliest of friends make an adorable pair. Just check out this puppy and an emu meeting for the first time, and the way man's best friend shows affection to an orphaned squirrel!
But there's something extra special when one animal 'adopts' another of a different species. Whether it's an animal's ability to show affection, or the way the two may seem to initially be at odds, we love seeing all species happy and healthy.
Take this black labrador and this tiger cub, for example. We couldn't imagine a tiger and a dog getting along, but just watching these two gets us a little teary! This mama pup, named Genie, willingly lets the tiger cub nurse from her.
The baby tiger was abandoned, rejected by his mother at the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahlay Zoo in Indore, India. When zookeepers had to find a surrogate mother to feed the cub, they looked to Genie. Genie immediately took to the baby, and "adopted" him as her own. Now, visitors flock to catch a glimpse of the unusual pairing!
We can't wait to see the cub grow up and stay by his new mama's side!
