Normally, I’d totally advise against dressing your animal up in pet outfits. They typically don’t like it, and it elevates their body temperatures above what they're used to.
In fact, dressing larger dogs in unnecessary clothing violates codes set by the U.K.’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA): “Dog owners should be aware that under the Animal Welfare Act that came into force in April 2007 they have a duty of care to ensure that all of their pets' needs are met,” RSPCA spokeswoman Jo Barr told The Telegraph. She adds, “We're concerned that any pet should be viewed as a fashion accessory. Taking on an animal is a long-term commitment. It's quite humiliating and sends out the wrong message about pet care."
But let’s be clear that the video below is a definite exception to the rule. Internet superstar Bodhi the Shiba Inu is joined by friends for a photo-shoot in dapper apparel, but isn’t required to wear these clothes any other time. Instead, Bodhi’s meme-worthy style guides help raise money for animal welfare charities. Much different, by comparison, than people who dress their dogs up uncomfortably for extended periods of time for their own amusement. And let’s be honest, these pups are heroes!
