We all have our weird little quirks.
I like to sing in the car, as does this dog, yet this dog prefers that his owner not sing at all…like, ever. No, there's no accounting for a person's taste, but if you are the lucky owner of a dog who likes to exercise his vocal ability from time to time, this next video may feel familiar to you.
There is just something about Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" that Bossman, an English bulldog, seems to respond to. Granted, it's a great classic tune (I mean, who doesn't like Joe Walsh?), and the guitar riffs are second to none, but you have to wonder, what is it about this particular song that speaks to Bossman?
Apparently, when a dog howls to music, it's their inner wolf peeking out. In the wild, wolves howl as a way of conversing with one another and celebrating the cohesiveness of the pack; sending a message to any and all would-be intruders that they are a united front.
Animal behavior experts theorize that many musical tunes share a high-pitched quality that dogs associate with the high pitch of a canine howl. In effect, the dog may be "conversing" with the music much in the same way as they would with each other. So it looks like maybe Bossman is less of a connoisseur of classic rock and more of a "high-pitched noises" kind of guy. Then again, you never know for sure just what's going through a pooch's head.
