It was a normal afternoon at Safaripark Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek, the Netherlands, when visitors stumbled upon an incredible event rarely seen in person.
In the video below, posted on May 9, 2017, people are passing by a camel in a section of her habitat. They realize she is acting strangely, seeming a bit restless. They quickly take notice to make sure she is OK. Then, the reason for this camel's peculiar behavior becomes very clear.
She is about to become a mom!
The camera rolls as visitors spot tony legs poking out of the adult camel. She lifts herself up onto all fours to move around, but soon, she is back on the ground, ready to give birth to her little one.
She kicks her left leg up repeatedly, trying to help her baby wiggle free. Once her child is halfway out, the determined mom sways back and forth to help in the final stretch.
The new mom rises to her feet and her baby is finally born. She turns around to face her little boy, and shows off her afterbirth for the camera.
Just when these visitors think their live miracle is over, the mama camel beings teaching her baby to stand and take his first steps.
