Just like most rescue dogs, Victor the Pit bull is as loyal and loving as they come, and he got a chance to prove it last month when he saved his owner from a potential car-jacker.
Victor was found severely beaten and living in deplorable conditions when he was rescued from an illegal dog-fighting ring in Washington. He was due to be put down a few months ago, but was saved just in time when Amber Melena decided to step up and foster the Pit bull.
Soon after, the dog returned the favor when Melena came face-to-face with a car jacker during an afternoon shopping trip.
"I was just reaching for my seat belt, and right as I was turning to click it in, this door flew open. And he was just standing right there," she told KOMO News.
But this car-jacking suspect messed with the wrong vehicle, and Victor was quick to act.
"He turns around and lets out just this gigantic woof," Amber said. "And this man throws himself backwards, trips on himself and falls down."
Police later arrested the man. And thanks to Victor, Amber wasn't hurt.
"I think he might have given me a second chance. He's definitely my hero," she says.
