Despite their bad reputation, pit bulls are starting to become more and more popular as pets as people realize that a dog is only as bad as its owner. Even though I've seen firsthand how sweet and gentle these animals can be, I was still biting my nails when this tiny but ferocious Chihuahua decided to use his pit bull buddy as a chew toy. I can only imagine how much those needle-sharp teeth must have hurt as they bit into the bigger dog's face! But instead of swallowing his little attacker in one gulp, the huge pit bull does something I never would have expected.
Even though most of them are just as sweet as any other breed, many pit bulls have been trained and bred for years as fighting dogs. Between their reputation in the fighting ring and sensationalist news stories that capitalize on every time a dog hurts someone, these normally gentle dogs are having trouble finding loving homes. It's because of this that this angelic pit bull spent a whopping five years in a shelter until one family finally brought him into their home.
But even though many people are still scared of them, plenty of wonderful pit bulls are showing the world exactly why they deserve love. Just like the dog in this video, most of these sweet animals are unbelievably patient with other creatures, even when they get a bit pesky. If you don't believe me, just watch what happens when a kitten won't stop trying to play with this sleeping pit bull!
For most living creatures, it's nurture and not nature that ultimately determines their attitude. Thanks to his loving and responsible upbringing, this pit bull reacted with patience and tranquility even when provoked by his hyper friend.
