This ‘Two-Faced’ Chimera Cat Is Nature’s Cutest Accident

Generally speaking, being two-faced is not a compliment. However, all bets are off when you're talking about Quimera, the beautiful chimera cat from Argentina.

So, what exactly is a chimera cat, or a chimera at all? The answer might blow your mind.

A chimera is an organism with two sets of DNA. According to Medicine.net, a chimera is technically its own twin, as two sets of DNA have been absorbed into one being.

This can happen to humans when they absorb their twin in utero, and is often detected by carrying two blood types.

The adorable Quimera probably also carries two blood types, but her two sets of DNA is visibly noticeable by her two-faced appearance.

She may be an accident, but no one is complaining. You'll want your own genetically blessed kitty, too!

If you didn't know better, you might think this picture was Photoshopped.

The nearly perfect line down the middle makes her look eerily unnatural.

The idea of a chimera first originated from Greek mythology.

According to Merriam-Webster, a chimera is, "A fire-breathing she-monster in Greek mythology having a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail."

Of course, Quimera doesn't breathe fire, and she has the body of a cat— complete with a fluffy, non-serpent tail.

She might have an interesting genetic makeup, but Quimera is just a regular cat who likes to do regular cat things.

However, her unique look does make her especially photogenic. She even has her own Instagram account!

With over 60,000 followers, it's safe to say people are happy to see this special two-faced kitty on their social media streams.

While Quimera shows all the signs of being a chimera, it is also possible that she could be what's called a "mosaic cat."

According to the American Council on Science and Health, this is when an egg has multiple active gene traits that result in a cat with calico fur.

Either way, Quimera is an amazing and beautiful kitty.
