Every pet owner must face the inevitable, sad day when he or she will be separated from a beloved furry friend. It is never easy to do, but sometimes, looking back at photos can help the healing process.
On January 6, 2018, pop singer and former The Voice coach, Christina Aguilera announced to her fans that, sadly, she had to put down her dog.
Stinky had been with Christina for 17 years and gone on tour with her all over the world. The dog joined her family about the same time her career took off and was no doubt there for her during all of the scary new experiences in the spotlight.
Christina shared the news on Instagram with a video collage tributing Stinky and a caption for her dog. "You were my roadie through the tours…breakups…life’s many ups and downs," she wrote.

Christina Aguilera announced that she'd lost her longtime companion, Stinky, on January 6, 2018.
She posted a video in his honor to her Instagram page.
The papillon was Christina's first dog, a gift from a former boyfriend. He lived for 17 years.
Stinky joined Christina on tour over the years, and she always posted photos of him online for her fans.
"Run free and with no more misery," she wrote in the caption for him.
After a long night of singing in front of a crowd, Stinky was always there to give Christina a good snuggle.
There is no doubt he will be truly missed.
As a mom, family is so important to the pop singer.
Although she's had other pets throughout the years, Stinky had been with Christina the longest.
Fans from all over the world commented on her video, which has over 500,000 views.
"It's so sad when we have to say goodbye to our loyal loving fur babies," one fan wrote. "I wish they could last longer."
Christina's friends and family are supporting her during this sad time.
Christina has two other dogs named Nugget and Chewy — Chewy is also a papillon.
While Christina hasn't toured officially in almost a decade, her beloved dog will surely be missed when she does decide to head back out on the road.
"RIP, Stinky," Christina wrote.
