It was just an ordinary fishing trip when two surprised fishermen got an unexpected visitor aboard their boat.
Father-and-son duo Dan and Nate Griggs were fishing in the Sea of Cortez when a sea lion that they estimate weighed at least 600 pounds jumped on their boat! That is not the marine life they were hoping to reel in!
As shocked as the two were, the crew took the surprise visitor in stride, and had met the sea lion many times before. The resident sea lion, known as Pancho by locals, is known for jumping on the occasional boat to say hello to fishermen.
Pancho knows that the fishing boats are filled with fish and bait, so he was probably hoping for a snack when he jumped aboard. The crew gave him what he came for, and fed him some fish from the boat before he went back into the water.
This wouldn’t be the first time a sea lion bellied up to some humans for a bite. In the same Sea of Cortez area, this sea lion made his way up to a scuba diving tour boat, hoping for some spare fish.
Going a step further, this hungry sea lion snuck his way into a restaurant and sat at a corner booth! Fortunately, veterinarians took him in to feed him properly.
