The art of surprise can sometimes go hand-in-hand with lying — it's just the nature of trying to pull a fast one on somebody. The trick, of course, is trying to get the best possible reaction out of the person you're surprising.
The mom in the video below obviously knows this very well! The mom had a camera in hand while she and her son were inside their car.
The two had driven to Colorado Springs, Colorado, but not for what the son expected.
"Can you tell the camera why we're in Colorado Springs right now?" the mom asked him in the video.
"To go check out some new places for a Qdoba Mexican Eats," he replied.
"What would you say if I told you I've been lying to you for months, and that that's not why we're here?" the mom asked.
Instantly, his face changed from content to confused.
"Why would we be here?" he asked.
"Well, it could be the greatest thing I could give you right now," Mom replied.
"A corgi?" he asked, with sudden anticipation.
In fact, this young man had wanted a corgi for years!
"They're right outside," Mom said.
He then burst out of the car, eager to see the surprise his mom had been lying to him about — but hey, whatever works!
