It's easy to see why Corgis are one of the most popular breeds today. Outside Wales, corgis have been made popular by Queen Elizabeth II. (Did you know she has owned more than 30 corgis in her lifetime?!) It's pretty difficult to resist these little guys — especially because it looks like they're always smiling.
If you're in need of an instant pick-me-up, BuzzFeed's latest video, 35 Corgis To Get You Through Your Day, will do the trick! In the compilation, they show off corgis just being quirky and ridiculously cute. From meeting a guinea pig to seeing their reflection for the first time, these pups prove to be one of the cheeriest dog breeds around. Is there anything that corgis can't make adorable? Answer: No.
But there's much more to these dogs than just their hilarious antics. These short-legged, big-eared cuties also have a rich history. For instance, did you know:
- There are two different breed of corgis: the Pembroke Welsh corgi and the Cardigan Welsh corgi.
- Pembroke corgis are born with very short tails or no tails at all, while Cardigan corgis have long tails.
- At only a foot tall, corgis are the smallest of the herding breeds.
- Corgis can be traced back nearly 1,000 years to Wales, and some evidence suggests that corgis were once owned by Vikings.
- Corgis are considered the 11th-smartest dog breed. They can learn a command after just 5–10 repetitions, and they obey a command the first time it’s given 85% of the time.
No matter what your favorite breed is, the corgis in this next video are guaranteed to make you smile. (You can thank us later!)
