No two dogs are alike. Each and every dog has unique habits and preferences, especially when it comes to resting after a long day of fun and play.
There are so many positions that dogs like to fall asleep in — but some, like YouTube user Ann Le's precious Pomeranian, Harley, love the feeling of a soft, cozy bed.
Below, we take you through Ann's brilliant DIY project. She takes a simple wooden crate and — by using only a few simple craft supplies and items around the house — fashions a functional, adorable bed for Harley.
The best part about this project is that you might not even have to run to the craft store for any supplies. In fact, you can even take a trip to your local farmers market to see if you can pick up any empty wood crates from the vendors!

Here's what you'll need to begin the DIY project: some craft paint, wood knobs, and paintbrushes.
You will also need some wood glue, which will come in handy in later steps.
And, of course, you'll need a simple wood crate. The size of your crate may vary, depending on how big your dog is.
First, knock out the top two panels of wood on one side of the crate. This will create a nice opening for the pup's bed.
Next, take a pair of pliers and pull out any sharp staples that are still stuck to the crate's surface.
Wipe down the crate and get rid of any chipped wood or dust. Then, paint your first layer of craft paint.
Let that dry for a good 30 minutes to an hour before painting on the second layer.
The wood knobs will become the bed's foot stands. Feel free to paint the knobs any color of your choosing!
After the paint has set, take the knobs and glue them onto each of the corners of the crate. You can use hot glue for this step, as well!
For your dog's mattress, find an old throw pillow that you won't be using anymore. Cut out one side of the pillow, and take out some of the stuffing.
Then, glue the pillow back together. This way it will fit into the crate more snugly.
You can take some fabric or an old blanket, and wrap it over the pillow. No sewing is required, as you can take off the fabric (or 'pillowcase') at any time, and put it in the washing machine.
Try fitting the pillow into the crate to see how well it fits. There are only a few steps left after this!
If you want to jazz up the design, take a wood plate and spray it with chalkboard paint.
Then, write the name of your dog on the plate with a chalk marker.
Lastly, secure the plate onto the front of the bed with some hot glue.
And there you have it — a perfect, warm, and cozy bed for your beloved pup.
