A Canadian town councilor was driving home from a function when he saw something laying in a ditch near the road. When he pulled over to investigate he couldn't believe his eyes. It was a dog, severely injured and chained to a road sign. It was heartbreaking.
Richard Bartley immediately called animal control who picked up the dog before bringing it to a local vet. The dog was covered in feces and most likely was starved by it's previous before it was chained up to that sign.
The dog, who was given the name Bella, was 30-pounds and suffering from open wounds on all four legs. Her wounds were so bad she could barely walk and she was so frail she couldn't stand. According to animal control official, Bella was so emaciated that you could count and feel the bones throughout her body.
Now living in foster care, Bella is gaining strength everyday. In one week she gained 15-pounds and is thriving now that she is in a loving temporary home. Bella will soon be up for adoption.
Animal control officers are asking anyone who may have information about Bella to please contact animal control services at 905-640-1900 or 1-855-642-8696.
