Each year, thousands of folks throw get-togethers with friends and family to celebrate our nation's independence on the Fourth of July, complete with yummy food, sports, and sparklers.
But the magical main event for the night is always the fun fireworks display, with beautiful pops of colorful and big thrilling booms.
But for many pets, Independence Day fireworks and festivities can send them into a state of panic.
If not secured and cared for under these helpful regulations, animals can translate the bright lights and sounds as danger and become so distressed that they bolt into the wild.
This was the case for poor old Rocky, who was so startled by fireworks on that day that he ran away — miles away — from his owner.
But with the help of the amazing local humane society, Rocky was rescued in the nick of time, and you'll be shocked when you find out where they found him!

Jogger Jake Higgins was busy running through the woods in Conway, NH, when he spotted a dog wandering by himself.
He alerted the Conway Area Humane Society that he thought he'd seen a homeless animal in the forest, and they responded, eager to help.
Shortly after, two of the society's staff followed Higgins into the woods to see if they could spot the dog again.
Fortunately, they spotted a flash of fur among the brush, indicating that the doggy was still wandering in the woods.
They were able to catch up with him easily because he was an older dog who had become a bit frail and fatigued from his wandering.
He sat down in exhaustion as soon as they started their pursuit — signaling that he definitely wanted to be saved!
The rescuers carried the grateful dog out of the forest and showcased the save in a video on Facebook.
Though the alert on him was out, they were unsure if any owner would see it and come to claim him.
Fortunately, he was identified before the hour was up, and he was reunited with his dad shortly after.
As it turns out, the dog, named Rocky, was 17 yeas old and had cancer.
He had run away during the Fourth of July after getting spooked by fireworks.
His dad had been worried sick and was out looking for him every day, not knowing that he had run miles away into the woods.
But thanks to the dedicated do-gooders at the humane society, Rocky was saved from the woods and, quite literally, carried back into the arms of his owner.
