People living in small towns often say that one of the biggest benefits of living in such communities is how close neighbors are. On top of that, it often seems that everyone is willing to lend a hand in a time of need.
That's exactly what Johnny Baber and his wife said after their dog, Daisy, got stuck in a drainpipe and couldn't get out.
The pup was playfully chasing after neighborhood kids on their bikes when she ran into the pipe and got stuck. Johnny tried to lure her out but was unsuccessful. That's when he knew that he needed help, so his wife called their neighbors.
For three to four hours, the citizens and volunteer firefighters who arrived on the scene used everything at their disposal to help get the poor pup out of the hole, including vinyl siding and extensions for tree trimmers.
They even had to cut into the road to reach her.
Daisy was eventually freed, and her owners were ecstatic to see her unharmed. Normally a shy dog, she didn't hesitate to go up to each and every one of her rescuers to thank them for their efforts!
"Everybody came together in our time of need and helped," Johnny tells WKYT about the incident. "And that's what it's all about."
Now, a lucky Daisy is safe at home, where she belongs!
