Reason No. 41,986 why we do not deserve dogs: Habs, an adorable spaniel dog, watches over his favorite plush toy while it's in the wash to make sure that it's safe. Now that's loyalty.
Reason No. 41,987: That plush toy is a ridiculously oversized teddy bear, much larger than Habs himself.

Habs' owner, Jacqueline Estey, didn't originally intend for Habs to bond with the giant teddy bear. It belonged to her before Habs even joined the family. But soon after he arrived three years ago, he claimed the teddy bear as his own.
"Habs has always been inseparable from the bear," Jacqueline told the Dodo.
But as all dog owners know, a dog's favorite toy will quickly become one of the filthiest things in the known universe. Eventually, it was time for Jacqueline to give the huge teddy bear a wash.
Habs didn't trust it. He decided to stand watch until his teddy bear was safely free of the laundry demons.
"He sat in front of the dryer the whole cycle just to make sure he would be okay," Jacqueline tweeted alongside a video of Habs watching the bear tumble. That tweet now has 800,000 likes, which, if you ask me, isn't nearly enough! You're the best, Habs.

Habs's favorite toy is this giant teddy bear, which he poached from his owner, Jacqueline Estey, shortly after he joined her family three years ago.
"Habs has always been inseparable from the bear. He likes to bring the bear all around the house," Jacqueline told the Dodo. "If you pick it up, he'll follow you around until you put it back down for him."
Recently, it was time for Jacqueline to give the bear a good wash. Unfortunately, that meant separating it from Habs for a couple hours.
And Habs just wasn't having that.
Jacqueline found him sitting in front of the dryer, faithfully watching over the bear during the entire cycle.
"I have never seen him do that for anything in the wash, other than his bear," Jacqueline said.
"It was hilarious when I realized he was sitting there for the whole entire cycle and wasn’t moving for anything!"
Does anyone love you as much as Habs loves this bear?! Is this the greatest love that has ever existed? Something to think about.
Just look at him, watching over that bear while it tumbles.
Habs was VERY relieved when, finally, his bear was dry and ready to be reunited with him.
But he couldn't quite shake that nervewracking experience.
Later that night, Habs' bear was safely downstairs. But Habs apparently had a nightmare that the bear was still in the laundry.
“I heard Habs scratching at the dryer door. When I went in there, he was looking for his bear in the washer and dryer!” Jacqueline said.
"I walked him downstairs and showed him where his bear was, where he continued to lay down next to his bear," Estey said.
Phew.
People quickly fell in love with Habs and his bear buddy after Jacqueline posted about it on Twitter. He reminded many dog owners of their own dogs' oddly strong feelings about certain toys.
And the Twitter thread is now a gold mine of adorable dog+toy photos.
