Anyone who owns a dog knows how wonderful they can be. They are compassionate, emotional creatures.
If you have more than one dog, you also know that dogs can have complex, loving relationships with one another, just like they do with their owners.
Not only are they compassionate, they're also smart and able to form long-lasting friendships.
One Twitter user who goes by @EasyBreasy always knew that his two yellow labs, Stitch and Cookie, were best friends. But it wasn't until recently that he realized what an impact they had on one another's lives.
When @EasyBreasy adopted Cookie, Stitch trained the younger dog to only eat half the kibble, since they shared a food bowl.
Cookie quickly picked up on what Stitch was trying to teach her — she started leaving half her kibble for her big brother, who would eat only after making sure his little sis ate.

Stitch and Cookie, yellow labs who were best friends and non-biological siblings, always shared kibble from one bowl.
Stitch recently passed away and Cookie is learning to live on her own for the first time.

Their owner, @EasyBreasy, recently posted on Twitter about his dogs' relationship, and his tweet immediately went viral.
Within two days, the tweet had over 29,000 likes and over 13,000 retweets.

He wrote:
So we have only one food bowl for my two labs.
And my dog Stitch trained by other dog Cookie to only eat half of the food that's in the bowl.

So ever since she was young she knew to leave half the food so Stitch can have some (he liked to make sure she would eat).
Now Stitch recently passed away. And this is Cookie's first time alone.

So since Stitch is gone, I’ve been feeding Cookie less food.
Well before I went to bed, I wanted to check to see if she ate. And so I did, and she still left half of her food there so Stitch can eat.

Everyone who read the story of Stitch and Cookie on Twitter and Imgur was immediately in tears.
One person on Imgur wrote, "This is a heart-breaker."

Another Imgur shared his own story, writing, "My younger dog always waited at the door for my older dog to go out and come in. Broke my heart seeing him still do it after he passed."
One Twitter user wrote, "Dogs are amazing. Sorry for your loss."

And we couldn't agree more — dogs truly are amazing animals.
