Hilarious Sleep-Talking Boxer Is Having The Craziest Dream Ever

While any dog owner won't contest the claim that dogs dream when they're sleeping, there's been a significant amount of research done to get to the bottom of whether that claim holds its weight. (As a person whose childhood dog chased imagined prey in her sleep, I'm a believer.)

As Psychology Today points out, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were able to prove in a study that rats dream about their various daily activities. And if a rat's brain is capable of dreaming, then surely the more complex brain of a dog is, as well.

But if you're in need of some science to flaunt for all those naysayers, "There is also evidence that they dream about common dog activities," writes Psychology Today. "This kind of research takes advantage of the fact that there is a special structure in the brainstem (the pons) that keeps all of us from acting out our dreams. When scientists removed or inactivated the part of the brain that suppresses acting out of dreams in dogs, they observed that they began to move around, despite the fact that electrical recordings of their brains indicated that the dogs were still fast asleep. The dogs only started to move when the brain entered that stage of sleep associated with dreaming." Add to this information the video below and you'd think it would be difficult to argue otherwise.

The following slumbering dog is a 10-year-old boxer rescue who reportedly "spends a good portion of his day laying on the couch," according to the video's description. ("Who can blame the guy?" is what I have to say about that.) And, as the video's title aptly asked, what on Earth could this dog be dreaming about?
