When one type of animal adopts another, it's more evidence that animals understand love. These mothers just seem to know that babies need care, regardless of who's babies they are.
When the Oklahoma City Zoo saw that they had their first successful litter of African wild dog pups in decades, they were overjoyed. But it quickly became apparent that their mother was too young and inexperienced to be able to care for them. Luckily, Lily, a Golden Retriever who had just had puppies of her own, was able to be called in to care for the wild dog puppies, and she immediately took to the job like any happy mother would!
This video is more amazing evidence that the bond of motherhood is strong!
