This Old Dog Lived The Fullest Life Up To The Very Last Moments

Growing up with a family dog is one of the greatest experiences a child can have. That pup becomes more than a best friend, she becomes a core member of the family. She becomes a shoulder to cry on and a companion to cuddle with when spirits are low. A childhood dog is truly irreplaceable.

April Kramer had her dog, Libra, since she was just eight years old. The pup was a huge part of her life, always bringing light to the day and bringing a positive outlook to things. She was great with kids and cats, and an all around sweet dog. But, inevitably, Libra grew older and weaker over the course of 15 years, and slowly became unable to do the things she used to do with ease. Her health deteriorated to the point where it was too much pain and suffering to handle.

That's when she took one last blissful ride in the car.

Libra's been part of April's life ever since she was just a pup.

They quickly became best buds.

Clearly, she was a goofball who could make just about anyone laugh.

She was also a gentle soul who wanted to make friends with everyone. This little kitten is Maxwell, just one of the many cat friends Libra made in the Kramer household.

This orange cat is named Marley, and he followed Libra everywhere. The two of them had an extra special relationship that really showed how loving Libra always was.

As the years passed, her health took a sharp turn for the worse.

She began to have seizures that made daily life unbearable, and also developed some fatty tumors that eventually turned cancerous. Needless to say, this is no way for any pup to live, and there was no medical cure for her ailments.

That's when the family decided it was time to set her free from her pain.

The family took Libra for one last car ride to the vet. It was a good 30 minute drive, and despite being in pain, this pup was at peace with the happy life she lived.

Libra lived her life the way everyone should: full of love and happiness. Even in her later days, when she was very sick, she never stopped taking in the more joyful moments of life. This final car ride is such a beautiful moment, and this pup's legacy will live on in the hearts of April's family, and with all of us who had the privilege of experiencing a few moments of her life.
