He Passed Away Before Graduation, But Guess Who Walked In His Place…

This is such a heartbreaking news story, but it shows just how valuable service dogs are to the families they help — even if those service dogs are breeds that make many people skeptical.

38-year-old Josh Kelly suffered from epilepsy, and his service dog Cletus, a pit bull, followed him everywhere. Cletus was a staple at Josh's school, Idaho State University. He attended every class with Josh.

Cletus saved Josh's life multiple times, alerting friends and family whenever Josh was having a seizure. Unfortunately, Josh was hit hard by his disease and passed away before he was able to graduate.

Josh's dad accompanied Cletus down the graduation stage to collect Josh's diploma on graduation day, leaving everyone in tears. Even though Josh's dad wasn't originally sure about having a pit bull as a service dog, he's come to love Cletus, and all he represents to their family.
