In the summer of 2016, teenage friends Melanie and Nicole went for a stroll around their Northvale, NJ, neighborhood. While on their evening walk, the girls stopped in their tracks when they heard a dog frantically barking in a nearby house — and then the sound of glass shattering. It was enough to send chills down their spine.
Since they both love animals, Melanie and Nicole decided to do some investigating and locate the house from which the strange noises were coming.
Melanie and Nicole pinpointed the house in question and noticed a window besides the neighbor's front door had been broken, with shards of glass littering the stoop.
The teens realized the homeowner's dog had smashed his snout through the glass in a desperate effort to get the neighbors' attention… and yes, it worked!
When the police arrived, they busted through the door and discovered why the dog named Sammy — whose loud barking was usually a neighborhood nuisance — ended up saving a human life.
Animals truly are amazing creatures.
