Why anyone would ever want to hurt an innocent animal is beyond me. Unfortunately, with so many good people in the world, there are a handful of evil ones, too.
For the first time in a while, the following story made me physically ill. However, it is also a story of spirit, faith, and the ability to overcome just about anything.
We've seen in the past how Eldad Hagar and his amazing team of angels at Hope For Paws find homeless, helpless dogs on the streets of Los Angeles County. It's thanks to Hope For Paws and similar rescue organizations and shelters that many of these dogs, like the brave sheepdog, Shayna, find the happy endings they deserve. But the sad truth is, many of the people who "dump" their dogs, don't want or expect them to survive.
I've heard the saying "hurt people hurt others" before, but it couldn't be more true for this next story. A witness near a Los Angeles canal witnessed a deranged homeless man as he cut off a stray dog's paw and then dropped him about 30 feet into the canal.
When Hope For Paws arrived at the scene, they found the tiny pup quivering in fear and pain. The dog, who Eldad named Jordan, had lost a lot of blood and would need surgery, but hope was not lost for this tiny pup.
Every day is a little better than the last, and even though Jordan lost a leg, just like many other brave dogs who came before him, he finally has a loving family and a place to call home.
