Man Thinks Stranger Is In His Home, Doesn’t Know His Pet Squirrel Already Found The Burglar

Adam Pearl returned to his home in Meridian, Idaho, and knew deep down that something was wrong.

He found a track of suspicious snow prints around his property. When he went inside, he discovered open doors and saw that some of his belongings were missing. Then he looked at his gun case.

"I started looking at it and I saw the scratches that were around the locking area and at that point, I knew somebody was definitely in here messing around," Adam says in the video below, posted on February 15, 2017.

When he called the police, Officer Ashley Turner showed up. Within minutes of entering Adam's home, she was startled by his pet squirrel, Joey.

"During her investigations, Joey had run into the bedroom," Adam explains, "screwing around like he always does, between her legs and kind of startled her and she says, 'Whoa! What was that?' and I say, 'Ah, don't worry about that. That's just Joey. Pet squirrel, you know?'"

Officer Turner asked him if Joey bites and Adam told her he usually doesn't, but he's still a squirrel. The officer gathered all the information she needed and left Adam's house. It didn't take her long to locate the alleged burglar, but when she did, she made an incredible discovery.

The investigative officer returned to Adam's residence within a few hours with some of his stolen items.

Then she let him in on a little secret about Joey the squirrel.

"She said while she was questioning the individual, he had scratches on his hands. She asked him, 'So, did you get that from the squirrel?' and he says, 'Yeah, the damn thing kept attacking me and wouldn't stop until I left!'"

Now, Joey is being hailed as a hero for protecting his home and shooing the alleged burglar out of it.
