Kali Sakai, a writer, and her husband return to their room at the Kariega Game Reserve in South Africa after enjoying a delicious breakfast.
When they walk inside, they are greeted by an unexpected guest — a thirsty giraffe.
The long-necked animal is slurping some water from the elevated outdoor pool. Nothing but a wall with a glass door and windows stands between the couple and their new friend. Kali quickly grabs her camera to capture the wild animal on film.
Thankfully, it is already winter time and the pool is not chlorinated, so the giraffe is safe to sip up.
He takes a minute and stares right back inside at Kali and her husband. He sees Kali filming him near the window and — let's just say that this tall fellow is far from camera shy. He stands for a while, enjoying the breeze and refreshments that the outdoors provide.
Eventually, Kali and her husband's guest decides it is time to pick up and leave. Now that is something unforgettable.
