In the pantheon of preciousness, baby birds rate pretty high. Fuzzy chicks are freakin’ fantastic, pink baby parakeets are so ugly they’re endearing, and, c’mon, do I even need to convince you of the cuteness that is Ryan Gosling?
But the cutest of all birds, in my humble opinion, is the duckling. They waddle, they swim, and they follow Mama in a single-file line of adorableness.
Quick story: I used to live by a pond, and my apartment building was frequently visited by our natural next-door neighbors — local ducks! One day, I opened my car door after parking in our lot and was greeted by a flock of baby ducklings who then followed me from my car and all the way back to the door of my ground-level apartment. Right before I walked inside, I turned around and snapped a quick shot (which you can see at the bottom of this post). It is one of my favorite memories.
So, what can make the cutest of baby birds even cuter? No, not their collective noun (which is “paddling” — yes, a group of baby ducks is called a paddling). I’ll give you a hint. Three words: Just. Add. Kitten.
To see what happens when a kitten climbs into a box of ducklings, watch the video below.
Make sure to SHARE this massive amount of sweetness with everyone you know. It will definitely brighten their day!
