If you saw a baby squirrel on the ground, would you know what to do?
First, you are supposed to check and see if the baby is injured. If the baby is healthy and still warm, and Mom is still around, she'll almost certainly come retrieve her baby.
If the baby is injured, take her to a vet immediately. If she isn't warm, you must warm her up before trying to get Mom to come back.
If Mom is nowhere to be found, it's time to find a rehab facility.
This Imgur user followed all the proper steps for one adorable baby squirrel. Unfortunately, Mom never came back. Fortunately, though, the little guy is safe and sound all thanks to this one kind soul.
No life is too small or insignificant to save. They're all worth saving!

"Made a nest and put it back up in the tree where its real nest is. Got him screaming for Mom. Hopefully she'll pick him up on the way home. If not, I'll be the proud owner of a squirrel."

"Sleeping on a heating pad. Babies can't regulate to 99F."

"Not dehydrated, so went to AG milk replacement last night."

"One of many feedings every 4ish hours."

"Second attempt at reuniting with Mom. He was in the temp nest for 10 hours over 2 days, no Mom. Has a temp controlled pad at 99f to keep him prepped for Mom."

"Just before I pulled him to take him to animal rehabber. We were lucky enough to find a retired couple running a license wildlife rehab facility. He will join the other squirrels they have in a giant squirrel enclosure."

Baby squirrels often need your help. If you find one, you should try reuniting her with her real mother.

You first need to warm the baby — or else Mom will think she's sick. Make a little nest, and if Mom doesn't show up within a few hours, it's time to find a squirrel rehab.
