As animal lovers, nothing makes us happier than seeing an animal go safely into a loving home.
This is especially true in cases where the sweet creature in question may have gotten off to a rough start in life, and needs an extra-special dose of love and affection, as we saw with sweet mastiff Waldo and his happy, adoring foster family.
That’s why we have a special place in our hearts for good people who go out of their way to make animals feel safe and secure.
The latest Good Samaritans catching our eye? The wonderful men and women of the Petal Police Department in Petal, MS, who recently discovered a puppy roaming loose in the small city.
They promptly named her Felony, and brought her back to the department for a criminally cute day at dispatch.
Best of all, they left plenty of photographic evidence! Check it out in the gallery below.

Little Felony is a black Lab and pit bull mix puppy who is probably between 2 and 4 months old.
Petal PD found her wandering after she was abandoned in a local dog park, and promptly brought her back to the department.
Normally, they take stray dogs to the shelter, but their local shelter was at capacity.

This sweet girl might not have much of a chance at a bigger shelter that euthanizes, because many adopters are hesitant about taking on pit bulls.
Unfortunately, pit bulls have been misused by humans enough to have a bad reputation, and Petal PD was worried that people might not see her adorable, affectionate disposition shining through.
Instead, she came to the station, where she gained the name Felony and embarked on a brief but storied career as a police dispatcher.

She spent a busy work day "helping" dispatch take calls.
In between, she made herself available for plenty of pampering and petting.
According to Imgur user FreckledFaceGinger, who posted the pics, "The officers enjoyed having some dog therapy today."

Little Felony even played favorites with some of the station's employees.
For example, in the picture above, she apparently followed the assistant police chief down the hall after taking a liking to him.
She even invited herself to have a cozy nap in his desk chair when he got up.

Napping in various comfy chairs seems to be a major highlight of the day for this sweet pooch.
We really can't blame her; learning a whole new job can take a lot out of a girl.
Besides, she's probably not that great at answering phones, on account of having no thumbs.

The Petal Police Department is pretty accustomed to working with dogs.
The city of Petal has a population of about 10,000 and a fairly sizable force, including two police K-9s.
Still, little Felony is definitely a special kind of canine, maybe because most of the department got to know her during her time at the station.

Overall, this little girl ended up spending most of her day charming the staff and officers of Petal PD with her undeniable puppy dog eyes and sweet doggy kisses.
In fact, her campaign was so successful that she was the station mascot for only a single day.
Before the day was up, she went home with one of the officers, who promised to keep the name Felony in honor of her auspicious start.
If this sweetie pie melted your heart too, make sure to SHARE her awesome rescue and adoption story!
