Everybody loves a good dog story. Dogs rescuing their owners, dogs being adopted, dogs loving on babies — but the dog stories that top them all are stories about dogs being rescued.
If you have a dog, one of your biggest fears is probably them getting lost and not being able to find their way home. I’ve had numerous incidents where one of my dogs has gone missing, and I immediately go into panic mode, thinking of the worst of the worst! You wouldn’t think that a small dog would run off more than a big dog, but I’ve learned the little ones are the ones you have to be extra cautious with! But when you are reunited with your lost puppy, the feeling of happiness is almost indescribable.
Inside Edition shared a video on its YouTube channel about a dog who was lost in the mountains and rescued on Christmas Day. Nala and her family were on a hike on Christmas Eve, and she, unfortunately, got separated and lost near Waterfall Canyon in Utah.
The family alerted the authorities, and the Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team sent out drone cameras. Once the team spotted Nala, they dispatched a crew to go and get her.
When they got to the Nala, they had to leash her, which was not an easy task at first. Strangers are scary to dogs, too! With some calm coaxing and bribing Nala with treats, they finally were able to get her close enough for them to secure her to a rope.
Following the rescue, they had to hike back down the mountain to safety. The rescuers said that Nala was able to make the long hike down despite being slightly injured.
Waiting for Nala at the bottom of the mountain was the best treat she could receive. Her family was anticipating her arrival, ready to greet her with nothing but love and finally take her to her comforting warm home.
Inside Edition said, “The reunion was a Christmas gift they didn’t think to ask for but were extremely grateful to receive.”
