Dog Saves Toddler From Poisonous Snake, Then Mom Runs Out And Finds Him Frothing At The Mouth

Two-year-old Carmen Shaw wanted to play outside on December 8, 2016, so she took her boxer Mack with her. Carmen was jumping on her trampoline so she didn’t see a venomous tiger snake slithering towards her.

Luckily Mack did, and he immediately went into protection mode and killed the snake before it had a chance to touch Carmen.

“Carmen was jumping on the trampoline and the dog was running around in the yard,” Jo Shaw, Carmen’s mother, told Daily Mail Australia. “I walked away to load the dishwasher and I heard a clap of thunder. My daughter came running and she said, "Hi Mum, Mack's not coming.’"

Sadly, Mack was bitten several times while he tried to kill the snake and the bites have left him in critical condition.

'I went and found him frothing at the mouth and paralyzed and he wasn't breathing,” Jo said. “My husband and I, we rushed him to the vet.”

After arriving, Mack was given three rounds of anti-venom after he suffered kidney damage from the snake bites.

The next morning, Mack was a bit more rambunctious and was found chewing on ventilator chords which let doctors know he could be taken off life support.

But Mack wasn’t quite out of the woods yet.

He needed to stay at the vet for more treatments, but the Shaw’s had no way to pay for the expensive medical bills. They call Mack their best friend, and Leigh, Jo’s husband immediately put his classic car up for sale on Facebook to help cover the medical bills that were already over $6,000.

When strangers saw Leigh’s post, they said the family couldn’t lose their dog and their car at the same time and told them to start a GoFundMe page for Mack, and complete strangers have helped the Shaws’s save Mack.

Right now Mack is supposed to make a full recovery, but the family is still asking for help in any way possible.

“Mack is almost four and we've had him since he was a puppy. We got him after I had a miscarriage and my husband and I lost twins,” Jo said. “'Mack is very special to us, he means so much to us because we got him at such a bad time in our lives and now he has saved our daughter.”

Mack, a four-year-old boxer, was outside running around his backyard while his two-year-old owner, Carmen, jumped on her trampoline. Her mom, Jo, was watching the two of them but went inside to load the dishwasher.

Jo went outside and found Mack frothing at the mouth, paralyzed, and not breathing. She wasn’t sure what had bitten him, but after looking around the backyard, she found a lifeless venomous tiger snake, which Mack had killed but had bitten him several times.

Mack’s medical bills were already over $6,000 which the Shaw's couldn’t afford, so Leigh put his classic car up for sale on Facebook. But strangers told him that he and his family couldn’t lose both his car and their dog so a GoFundMe page was set up for Mack.
