If you're a pet owner, then you know that once you get that pet, (s)he becomes part of your family.
If your family was in danger — either because of fire, natural disaster, or threat of a criminal — you'd probably do every thing you could to save them, right? The same probably goes for your pets.
After all, we have seen countless examples of animals doing whatever they can to save their humans, like this pit bull, who alerted his family when their house was on fire. Why wouldn't we do the same for them?
Back in 2003, a West Memphis, TN-man named Jarrod Martin risked his own life to save that of his dog. When an intense blaze started to destroy his apartment complex, Jarrod took every measure to make sure that his family was safe, but he knew his dog was still caught inside the inferno.
Firefighters tried to convince Jarrod that they would stop the fire before anything terrible happened to the dog, but as he saw the flames grow larger and larger, Jarrod's certainty began to wane.
He took action and hoisted himself up one flight to get to the dog. The rescue took mere seconds and the crowds cheered as the dog leaped to safety: he was a hero.
The local police, however, didn't see it that way. Watch the video below to see why…
This clip is old but the story is timeless. Do you think Jarrod did the right thing leaping in to save his dog's life? Let us know in the comments, and please SHARE if you believe pets are part of the family!
